This week’s art further explores the theme of “Casio Keyboard Hell” as I revisit another instrument that I used to play often out of necessity but haven’t touched in years thanks to advances in technology. My competency on electric bass depends on your perspective of the instrument. I’m a solid bassist in the Nikki Sixx-esque eighth-note downpicking style that suited my music back in the day. But I never came anywhere near the level of exceptional bassists I appreciated like Geddy Lee, Mick Karn, or John Taylor. With Taylor being the primary bassist whose style I emulate these days when sequencing basslines for my songs for that Eurodisco feel. That’s the wonderful thing about technological advancements. I can utilize open-source software to synthesize any backing band I desire from song to song. Allowing me to expand my horizons as a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer.
