I end my morning walks by visiting (read: trespassing on) the woods at the end of my cul de sac. A vast swath of trees crisscrossed with deer trails. I don’t often venture too far within. Especially during snake and mosquito season. But I have a spot just off one trail. On a ridge between two other deer trails. Lots of whitetail deer activity in these woods if you haven’t already figured it out. Anyway, I’m not too concerned about encountering snakes at this spot. It’s where I stop to relieve myself. Making me a predator constantly marking his territory. No one else in my neighborhood ventures out here. Pretty sure it never occurs to them. I also take a few minutes to absorb the natural beauty all around me. It, like me, isolated from the world. Worthy of far more attention than it receives. Yet too good for the masses. The beauty paradox struggle is real.
